Where it all began...
The Rocky Mountain Dream began in 1976 when Tom and Kelly Brown began working at the University of Colorado. Tom dreamed of Colorado being the first “Christian State.” Several young campus ministers supported that dream. Among those were Willie Flores in Pueblo, and Paul Martel in Denver, Kevin Younger in Greeley, as well as Andy VanBuren in Ft. Collins and Steve Sapp from Missoula. These were the first seeds of the Rocky Mountain dream.
In May 1986, Marty and Cathy Wooten moved from Gainesville Florida to Denver and officially planted the Denver Church of Christ. The original church roster had 45-50 disciples. Somedisciples came from Florida and San Diego. Other individuals came from the University church, the Metro church and the Boulder Church. There also was a remnant of disciples consisting mostly of the
various Colorado campus ministries. In 1988 The Denver Church became a part of the International Churches of Christ, and the “discipling movement of Boston.”
