Mondays with Matt: Can We Live Together?

The hero and the heroine from a few chapters before, are definitely an item!

In Exodus Chapter 25 verse 8, God asks his treasured possession to do something.

“Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.” (emphasis mine)

Sanctuary refers to a place which offers safety or protection. He goes on to draw the details for this new abode. Once it is completed, they have an incredible housewarming party! He was making it clear that He was here to stay…

Glory of the Lord fills the temple that Moses could not enter the tent (Exodus 40:34-35)

Fire from heaven consumes the sacrifice (Leviticus 9:23-24)

People fell facedown and worshiped God (Leviticus 9:24)

God told them with the cloud when they would set out on their journey (Exodus 40:36)

He was with them day and night (Exodus 40:37-38)

A story is told of a boy who visited his grandmother every summer with his parents. As he grew older, he felt the need to exercise his independence and asked his parents if he could ride the train by himself to see his grandmother. His parents were shocked at his request, but the boy seemed adamant. Finally, they relented and let him take the train himself.

As he was boarding the train, his father gave him a note and told him, when you are afraid, please open and read what’s on it. The boy thanked his father nervously and boarded the train, excited and anxious, at the same time. As the train chugged along, he quietly enjoyed traveling by himself for the very first time. However, as new and unfamiliar faces boarded the train, he began to feel fearful. He said to himself, "Should I read the note my father gave me? No, I can handle this."

But the fears only grew. With fear giving way to alarm, he opened the note his father gave him.

It read, ‘Son I am in the last compartment of this train, if you need me.’

Isn’t this what God says to us, even today?

I am always close to you.

I am right there with you.

Do we go thru life everyday knowing that? Feeling that?
