Colorado Mountain Ministry

John and Joyce Hanson
Many people are attracted to Colorado, and one of the main reasons is the sundry outdoor recreational activities available.  Because of this, the Denver Church of Christ started a new ministry called the Colorado Mountain Ministry, or CMM.

A large percentage of the populace engage in hiking, backpacking, camping, cycling, snowshoeing, skiing, and many other forms of recreation in the mountains, foothills, and front range.  Special outdoor recreational events will be planned throughout the year, and this offers a great opportunity for fellowship and making memories with friends and family!

CMM Fall Calendar

Greetings everyone!  As we near the end of Summer, we are excited about upcoming Fall Events for the Colorado Mountain Ministry.

The following is the CMM calendar for the Fall:

Sept 18th - Fall Hike.  This is a tentative date, as we want to try and hit the high country during the peak of the Fall colors.  Location is also not yet determined, possibly the Colorado Trail along Kenosha Pass. The peak of the aspens turning comes up quickly, so 'stay tuned'.  This hike will be a family friendly trek, and a great time to be in the high country.

Oct 16-17 - White Ranch Backpack.  White Ranch is just west of Golden, and the campsites overlook the city.  This is a great opportunity for some peace and tranquility.  It's about a 1 mile trek to the campsites with very little elevation change.  Fall nights in the foothills are absolutely splendid.  We can look forward to sitting around a campfire, telling stories, gazing at the stars, and enjoying the wonders of God's creation. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=white+ranch+co&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-a&ie=UTF8&hl=en&split=1&ei=qf-DTLfRApyqigPVobTwDA&sll=39.820337,-105.261383&sspn=0.041268,0.090551&t=h&rq=1&ev=p&radius=2.88&hq=white+ranch+co&hnear=&ll=39.810316,-105.267134&spn=0.041274,0.090551&z=14

Nov 13 - Front Range Hike.  If you've never taken a hike up the east side of Mt Falcon, you are in for a real treat.  The Turkey Trot and Castle trails start near Morrison, and in 3 miles we'll ascend 1800 ft to the location of Walker's Dream (a location that had been planned for the Presidential summer house in yesteryears - now in ruins!)

Dec 11 - Snow Shoeing.  Let's hope for an abundance of snow in the high country this Season!  We'll "keep an eye out" for snow levels and pick a place that will give us some fun in the snow.

All Events are open for anyone to come and provide a great opportunity for fellowship, making new friends, and creating some very special memories.  Since these activities involve the Outdoors, dates and events are subject to change due to weather, but we'll send out notices regularly.

As a final notice, Loveland is inviting us back this ski season, and the rates haven't gone up!  We will be setting a date in January very soon.  The group rates at Loveland cannot be beat, especially for the ski and snow board lesson packages.  This is an excellent opportunity for first time skiers/boarders or those who wish to improve on their skiing/riding.  Last year we had one of the best powder days all Season!!  We'll send a firm date and the group rates in the near future.

As always, you are welcome to contact us or anyone on the CMM Service Team for more information.

2010 Theme - Even Greater Things

'I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.' John 14:12 (NIV)
