The leadership of the Denver Church of Christ is pleased to announce exciting plans to celebrate and explore our diversity in honor of Black History Month the evening of Saturday February 18th and Sunday morning February 19th. We’re thrilled to have Scott and Thereasa Kirkpatrick of Columbia, South Carolina back again this year to lead our hearts toward a greater understanding of Jesus’ teaching on this timeless topic. This past year has seen some of the greatest tension among the many races, cultures and religions in our nation’s history. As Christians, all of us want to be “ready to give an answer” as to how to treat others unlike ourselves both in and outside the church. Scott heads up an initiative for the International churches of Christ to promote unity among the diverse membership in our U.S. churches.
Below are articles Part I and II, III, IV, and V describing the journey to focus on African-Americans in the Denver Church of Christ. Chris Jacobs is an elder in Denver, and lived in Tokyo for many years, serving as an administrator for many of the Asian churches in our fellowship. These articles can be found on his blog.
